Family and friends gathered to say goodbye to a murdered Rowan county woman.

This afternoon to say goodbye to a rowan county woman whose boyfriend was charged this weekend with her murder.

A visitation and celebration of life were held at michael gray funeral home for jill clayton.

Clayton had been missing for two weeks when search crews found her body friday.

The state medical examiner says clayton died from a single gunshot wound..

Her sister spoke today at the funeral about clayton's life...saying she wishes she could've helped her sister.

"katherine holbrook, sister: jill just wanted to be loved and to love.

She cared so deeply for others and often not enough for herself.

Weren't there when she needed us the most."

Investigators say clayton's boyfriend...gary jeffries...faces several charges including... murder... abuse of a corpse... and tampering with evidence.

Deputies say he has a criminal history and is currently in jail in louisville for an unrelated case.
