‘It’s special:’ South Pitt hires former CFL coach, Pirates alum Chris Jones

Chris jones: "people get up in the morning, and the first thing they talk about is south pittsburg football, and that's what you want to be a part of."

The boys are back in town is what should've been playing all over south pittsburg today -- as the pirates welcome back brand new head football coach chris jones.

Jones gives up a life of coaching in the cfl and nfl to come back to his home town and take over the reigns at his alma mater.

His resume includes a 53-37 record in canada, including the 2015 grey cup.

Jones says he's hitting the ground running with the first coaches meeting after easter church service tomorrow.

Wednesday, he'll meet the players -- who can expect things to be run a little differently.

Chris jones: "it's 30 something years in the making.

I've been a coach 31 years, and it's something that, i came out of college at utc.

You know, i was raised right here right next to the school.

Having the opportunity to go full circle and come back home, football's been good to me, and give back tot he kids that are here, it's going to be a lot of fun."

Jeremy jackson: "you take someone that's had that experience and success at the professional level, and again, to bring it back down here, is just very, very exciting."
