8 Hindu groups in Karnataka including the Hindu Jagruthi Samithi, Sri Rama Sene, Bajarang Dal and others have called for the ban on halal meat in the state and for the removal of halal certification from the signboards of shops selling meat.
Several BJP leaders, including top ministers have extended their support to the ongoing campaign.
