FDA Approves Over-The-Counter Birth Control Pill

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first over-the-counter birth control pill.

This move will allow Americans to buy a daily oral contraceptive without a prescription.According to the FDA press release the pill is called “Opill.”  The director of the research said it is expected to be “more effective than currently available non-prescription contraceptive methods in preventing unintended pregnancy.”
