A Kenosha police officer shot and injured a woman armed with a handgun who allegedly made suicidal statements, including threats to make officers shoot her.
Police say it had been reported she had struck her child with a firearm on Thursday, July 27.
According to a statement from Kenosha police, officers were called to a home near 27th and 71st for the weapons complaint.
Officers found the woman armed with a handgun outside the home.
Officers say they tried to de-escalate the situation but that she was "not receptive" and made "numerous suicidal statements including threats to make Officers shoot her."
