Muhyiddin Yassin: Prime Minister of Malaysia
Muhyiddin bin Haji Muhammad Yassin is a Malaysian politician currently serving as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia. He was appointed on 29 February 2020 and sworn in on 1 March 2020 after Mahathir Mohamad's unexpected resignation on 24 February 2020 as part of the Malaysian political crisis. Muhyiddin is Member of Parliament for Pagoh, Member of Johor State Legislative Assembly for Gambir, former deputy president of Pakatan Harapan and current president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia. He was Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2009 till 2015, Deputy Chairman of Barisan Nasional and Deputy President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the main component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from 2009 to 2016.
