D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said Friday the District will convert 473,000 square feet of space at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center into a roughly 1,200-bed field hospital for COVID-19 patients. The Army Corps of Engineers is overseeing the construction of the temporary facility, and MedStar Health will staff and manage it upon its completion.
