Despite reopening, thousands file unemployment claims in Ohio, Kentucky

More than 42,000 Ohioans filed initial jobless claims for the week that ended May 23, bringing the total filed in 10 weeks to more than 1.25 million, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Meanwhile, Kentucky received 53,738 initial claims for the week that ended May 23, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
