Nanoveu Ltd (ASX:NVU) has enhanced the reputation of its antiviral technology with the release of new products and successful environmental testing leading to a lift in share price today. The company is well known for its EyeFyx technology, which when placed in devices allows people with far-sightedness the ability to use them without glasses, and EyeFly 3D, which enables 3D entertainment without the use of 3D glasses. It has also been developing its range of distinctive antiviral products for the past three years, including Nanoshield, which is an antimicrobial phone case and screen protector capable of diminishing up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria and viruses that come in contact with your phone. The Nanoshield technology has now been expanded to include products that can provide protection on a wide range of surfaces, including handrails, public transport, ATMs and EFTPOS devices. Investors have responded well to an update today with shares as much as 18 per cent higher to 6.8 cents. It works outdoors, too Nanoveu CEO Alfred Chong said recent environmental testing of the technology had proven its effectiveness in a wide range of contexts. “Nanoveu continues to go from strength-to-strength, with the latest products and product assessments fine-tuning our suite of offerings to match customer need,” he said. “We have seen a real interest in a smaller tape product from our distributors and it is clear that the thermoformed product is of real relevance for a number of key industries. “Our customers have also inquired about our performance outdoors and it is fantastic to now have the evidence which suggests we are providing an appropriate and effective solution.” Tape and thermoformed products One of the new offerings is a tape-style product developed for simplified installation on an array of surfaces including handrails, public transport grab points, shopping trolleys, door handles and more. The other is a thermoformed product - in which a plastic sheet is heated to a pliable forming temperature, formed to a specific shape in a mold and trimmed to create a usable product. This thermoformed product will find use in covering customised surfaces, such as keypads, bank ATMs and point of sale devices. Environmental testing successful Nanoveu said the company had been inundated with inquiries as to whether its Nanoshield technology would work effectively outdoors in high-touch areas. Recent environmental testing has proved very successful, confirming the product maintains antiviral effectiveness in outdoor conditions. A weather testing machine was utilised to simulate an equivalent of 12 months outdoor exposure and subsequent antiviral testing of the weather-exposed material verified the product maintained its antiviral performance. Nanoshield was also assessed for effectiveness using MS2 Bacteriophage, a single-strand RNA virus, and results demonstrated it performed exceptionally well, reducing the viral load by 99.98 per cent within five minutes. That is in addition to previous studies which have proven Nanoshield is able to eliminate 99.99 per cent of OC43, a coronavirus affecting humans that is also a surrogate for COVID-19, in 30 minutes, as well as effective against other bacteria and viruses including e.Coli, Influenza A (subtype H3N2) and coronavirus MHV-A592. - Daniel Paproth
