Kin Mining NL’s (ASX:KIN) (FRA:8KM) shallow aircore drilling at Mount Flora, 20 kilometres east of its 1.23-million-ounce Cardinia Gold Project in WA, highlights the potential for an emerging satellite discovery. The aircore (AC) program consisted of 269 holes for 10,166 metres, targeting several gold-in-soil anomalies identified in recent auger sampling with a best result of 22 metres at 8.96 g/t gold from 24 metres, including 8 metres at 21 g/t from 32 metres. Assays are pending for the remaining 115 AC holes, totalling 3,577 metres of drilling. Other highlights in the 4-metre composite assay results are: 8 metres at 2.79 g/t from 28 metres; 8 metres at 2.47 g/t from 16 metres;   13 metres at 0.97 g/t from 20 metres; and 12 metres at 0.95 g/t from 0 metres. “High priority for exploration” The results have rapidly elevated the Mount Flora prospect as a priority for the Kin's exploration team with a field investigation underway and follow-up AC and RC drilling planned. Kin Mining managing director Andrew Munckton said: “These are spectacular results for aircore drilling which have rapidly elevated Mount Flora as a high priority for our exploration team. “It’s not often you hit 22 metres at 9 g/t including 8 metres at 21 g/t in the very first pass of shallow aircore drilling in a new area. “Together with the encouraging results returned from other holes across the prospect, this is clearly an area which demands rapid follow-up!” Shares are up 12.5% in early trading to 13.5 cents.  “Economic haulage distance” The company is confident that the results highlight the potential of satellite prospects within its broader tenure to host high-grade gold mineralisation within economic haulage distance of Cardinia. Munckton said: “Mount Flora formed part of the original Kin Mining IPO but has had relatively little exploration attention given our focus on the main deposits at Cardinia. “The area hosts numerous historic workings but has barely been touched since limited RAB drilling by Sons of Gwalia in the 1980s. “Given its strategic location within economic haulage distance of the Cardinia Project, we will be pushing hard to get more drilling in to this area as quickly as possible.” Location of the Mount Flora AC drilling program over geological map. Initial interpretation suggests the mineralisation is related to splays from the Federation Fault and other parallel structures. Gold-in-soil anomalies The AC drilling targeted strong gold-in-soil anomalies, with results to date confirming the presence of several mineralised trends interpreted to be associated with splays originating from the Federation Fault and other parallel structures. Multi-element assay results for bottom-of-hole samples used to characterise the mineralisation, alteration and rock types are pending at the assay laboratory, however, initial results suggest that the gold mineralisation is associated with anomalous silver, tellurium and tungsten in sulphide-rich vein structures. Follow-up AC drilling to extend existing drill lines and RC drilling to confirm mineralisation in fresh rock is planned once remaining assay results have been received.
