Performing 'The Old Laughing Lady'...

Watch this archive clip of *Neil Young* busking in Glasgow.

The songwriter has been dipping into the archives of late, with his live album 'Young Shakespeare' set to *arrive on March 26th*.

A recording of a live concert from 1971, we've decided to dip into some of the clips available online to focus on a beautiful moment.

Hitting Glasgow in 1976 to perform at the city's famed Apollo venue, he was accompanied by director Murray Grigor, cinematographer David Peat and a local film crew.

Just before the show, he slipped out on the venue, and began busking on the streets of Glasgow.

Sitting down outside Glasgow Central Station, he was able to perform almost entirely unnoticed, singing to bemused passers-by.

Speaking to *Open Culture* in 2021, Grigor reflected: “It was entirely Neil’s idea. To flop down at the entrance to Glasgow’s Central Station and then wait and see who would recognise him.”

Performing 'The Old Laughing Lady', it's a reminder of the carefree spirit that took Neil Young, as he once put it, away from the ditch.

Tune in now.

'Young Shakespeare' will be released on March 26th.
