The Offspring Split With Drummer After He Refuses To Get COVID Vaccine
Pete Parada says he is working within medical advice...
*The Offspring* have seemingly parted company with drummer *Pete Parada* after he declined to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The punk group have yet to comment officially on the news, but the drummer revealed the situation in a post on his *personal Instagram*.
Speaking to fans, Pete Parada revealed he would not be joining The Offspring on tour, following work on their album *'Let The Bad Times Roll'*.
The drummer has opted not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning he is “unable to comply with what is increasingly becoming an industry mandate”.
He dismissively states “it has recently been decided that I am unsafe to be around, in the studio and on tour” before adding “you won’t be seeing me at these upcoming shows”.
Pete Parada writes: “I caught the virus over a year ago, it was mild for me – so I am confident I’d be able to handle it again, but I’m not so certain I’d survive another post-vaccination round of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which dates back to my childhood and has evolved to be progressively worse over my lifetime...”
He continues: “Unfortunately for me, (and my family – who is hoping to keep me around a bit longer) the risks far outweigh the benefits.”
With The Offspring yet to comment, it seems his departure has been remarkably smooth: “I have no negative feelings towards my band. They’re doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same.”
