The Democratic Party’s brief flirtations with a far-left presidential candidate finally came to an end this past week. On Wednesday, self-described democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont suspended his presidential campaign. Despite early success, there were always reasons to believe Sanders’ victories were in large part a function of the Democratic field being as large as it was.
