Over the last three years, French President Emmanuel Macron has been an active participant in the Middle East. Under his leadership, France regularly leads European Union discussions on regional policies. This is not new for France; the French have often taken an interest in their former dominions. The current French strategy lacks direction and clarity, repeatedly pushing for objectives that baffle experts.
