House Jan. 6 panel issues wide-ranging records request

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), the committee chairman, signaled that an expansive investigation is underway, touching not only on what happened Jan. 6, but also on former president Donald Trump’s efforts to subvert the election.
