In biggest single day spike, India records over 5,200 Covid cases

A day after India’s Covid-19 count crossed the 1 lakh mark, more than 5,200 fresh cases were reported from across the country on Tuesday, the biggest single-day jump in infections so far, as at least five states added the highest number of patients to their coronavirus tally. Maharashtra accounted for over half the deaths, reporting its highest single-day toll of 76 — 43 in Mumbai alone
