BJP sends legal notice to Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar
Friday, 31 July 2020 () The BJP's Karnataka unit on Friday said it has sent legal notice to the leader of opposition Siddaramaiah and state Congress chief D K Shivakumar for their "baseless" allegations of corruption in the procurement of Covid-19 equipment and supplies. The party has demanded public apology from the two leaders, failing which they have been threatened with legal action.
Amid the political crisis in Rajasthan, Congress MLAs reached Jaipur for Assembly session. Assembly session has been started from today. Former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot along with the dissident MLAs arrived at session. BJP leader Vasundhra Raje also reached for session. Speaker CP Joshi is likely to take up CM Gehlot's confidence motion.
Rajasthan Congress leader Vishvendra Singh spoke to Hindustan Times over the tussle between the Gehlot & Pilot camp and the eventual truce. He said that they went to Delhi under the leadership of then PCC Chief Sachin Pilot and added that they wanted to apprise the Congress top leadership about the slow implementation of the manifesto. Singh said that Gehlot is the head of the Congress family in Rajasthan and added that not even Sachin Pilot has disputed his leadership. He also rubbished allegations of the ilot camp hobnobbing with the BJP. In which way are we supposed to be linked to the BJP? Each one of us paid our own bills, each one has paid the lawyers, all the papers and all the proof are with Mr Pilot. If we were hobnobbing with the BJP, as alleged, and alleged in a bad taste, then we wouldn't be sitting here,' Singh told Hindustan Times. He said that they were hurt by some of the words uttered against them but said that they chose not to respond. In what appears to show the state of affairs in Karnataka, health workers were seen dumping bodies of COVID-19 victims in an open pit allegedly in Ballary district. The incident came to light after the video went viral on social media, and was also shared by state Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Twitter. Reacting to it, Ballary's Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul said an enquiry has been initiated in the matter, adding that this was not the preferred method of burying the bodies of COVID-19 victims.
