New cases drop by 20% as Covid-19 testing dips

India’s daily Covid-19 case tally dropped by nearly 20% on Monday as sharply reduced testing on Sunday resulted in lower detection of infections. Monday’s count of 73,279 cases across the country was the lowest daily tally in September. ​​​​​Chhattisgarh had the highest growth rate of Covid-19 infections last week (September 14-20), with cases in the state having risen by 35% over the previous week.
