Strategic Zoji La reopens ahead of schedule amid LAC tension

With Indian soldiers remaining forward-deployed in the continuing 22-month-long military confrontation with China in eastern Ladakh, the BRO on Saturday reopened the forbidding Zoji La on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh road much ahead of schedule. The pass, key to maintaining operational preparedness of the armed forces, usually remains closed from end-November to mid-April due to heavy snow, leaving the Ladakh region cut off.
