Covid-19: At 2,897, India reports 26% spike in daily cases; active caseload sees rise

India has reported 2,897 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, thereby recording a 26% rise in daily cases, government data updated on Wednesday showed. The country reported 54 deaths, taking the death toll to 5,24,157​. The active case tally reached 19,494 with a rise of 143 such cases, the Union health ministry bulletin stated.
