Amid rise in cases, Centre asks states to ramp up Covid testing, genome sequencing

Out of the total 7,240 new cases in the last 24 hours, 81% of cases have been reported from four states - Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, and Karnataka In a letter to states and UTs on Thursday, health secretary Rajesh Bhushan advised ensuring a high level of testing in areas reporting new or clusters of Covid-19 cases while emphasising the need to follow the five-fold strategy of combating the disease.
