A 28-year-old computer engineer died after jumping into the Sabarmati river, allegedly under duress as her in-laws kept pressuring her to become a 'sati' (die by self-immolation). Sangita Lakhra, a native of Bhilwada in Rajasthan, left a suicide note with details of the persistent harassment by her in-laws after her husband died in an accident on February 10 last year.
