Former Isro director’s startup wins iDEX Challenge for developing SAR payload for satellites

Sisir Radar, a space-tech start-up founded by former Isro director Tapan Misra, has won the iDEX DefSpace Challenge for developing SAR payloads for low earth orbit small satellites. The company has also developed a dual-band radar that can see through rain, clouds, foliage, and vegetation, as well as penetrate dry terrain. Misra, who led the development of India's first space-borne SAR system, has stated that Sisir Radar has already developed low-altitude drone SAR and ground penetrating radar for mining applications.
