Supreme Court seeks information on release of water from Sardar Sarovar Dam to Narmada downstream

The Supreme Court has asked the Indian government to provide information on whether the issue of releasing enough water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam to the downstream areas of the Narmada River has been referred to the Narmada Control Authority. This comes after an appeal was filed by two organizations challenging a 2019 order of the National Green Tribunal, which stated that there were already bodies in place to address the river-related issues.
