As crop residue burning cases increase in Punjab during harvest season, fire brigades and government officials are working to extinguish fires and prevent further burning. Efforts to curb stubble burning include canceling firearms licenses, marking offenders in land records, and removing local village leaders who engage in the practice. The state government aims to halve the number of cases compared to the previous year. Over the past five days, 53% of the total stubble burning cases reported since September 15 have occurred in Moga district. Officials are closely monitoring farm fires and alerting fire tenders when necessary.
