Amid China overtures, king of Bhutan arrives in India today

Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck will begin an eight-day official visit to India, which is seen as a reassurance to India amid concerns about Bhutan's growing ties with China. Bhutan recently held boundary talks with China and expressed interest in resolving the dispute soon. India expects Bhutan to protect its security interests, particularly regarding the Doklam tri-junction issue. China hopes to establish diplomatic ties with Bhutan once the border issue is resolved.
