For the ailing in Kedakkadu village, ride to hospital is hell

Residents of Kedakkadu village in Yercaud, Salem district, are facing difficulties due to the lack of proper roads. T Subbaiyan, who lost his sister and her stillborn child, recalls the hardships of carrying their bodies in a cloth cradle for their final rites in the village. The 3km trek on the hilly terrain takes 45 minutes, while a tarred road could have reduced the time to 15 minutes. Villagers have been demanding proper roads and other basic amenities, but so far, their pleas have gone unanswered.
