HC orders CCTV installation by January 15 after lawyer found tampering with case listing

The Gujarat high court has ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in its registry, courtrooms, and other tribunals by January 15, 2024. The decision came after a lawyer was found tampering with the case listing process, and the court suspected the involvement of a court staffer. The lawyer, Dharmesh J Gurjar, had been appointed as a court commissioner by a debt recovery tribunal but was charged with demanding a bribe. Justice Sandeep Bhatt conducted an inquiry and found that Gurjar's case had been removed from the list to avoid an immediate hearing.
