Bengal governor skips convocation after officiating VC he axed leads event

Despite the controversy surrounding the removal of Jadavpur University's officiating vice-chancellor Buddhadeb Sau, the university proceeded with its convocation. Sau, backed by the Trinamool government, declared the convocation open but did not give a speech. The proceedings were handed over to pro VC Amitabha Dutta. Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose, who had removed Sau, did not attend the convocation. The convocation controversy is rooted in a long-running feud between Bose and the Mamata Banerjee-led government over university appointments.
