Delhi water minister directs chief secretary to float a tender for an ammonia treatment plant at Wazirabad by January 15. Ammonia levels in the Yamuna river have impacted the production capacity of water treatment plants at Chandrawal and Wazirabad. The crisis affected densely-populated areas of Delhi. Effluent released by Haryana and non-maintenance of ecological flow are major reasons behind the rise in ammonia in Delhi. The project to treat ammonia at Wazirabad has been delayed, and the chief secretary has been asked to submit a timeline for its implementation.
