Man crushed to death during stone-lifting competition

On Wednesday, tragedy struck during Pongal celebrations near Ulundurpet in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi district as a 27-year-old man lost his life. P Prabhu faced fatal injuries to his face and head when the Ilavatta Kal, a spherical stone he attempted to lift during a competition, fell on him. Swiftly, villagers took him to a government hospital, but a doctor pronounced him brought dead. Police registered a case and began investigations.
