Sweden envoy for Yemen calls for backing war-ending efforts

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, April 8 (KUNA) -- Sweden's Special Envoy for Yemen Peter Semneby on Thursday affirmed his country's support to Yemen and the peace process as part of international community's efforts to end the war and humanitarian crisis.This came during Semneby's meeting with Marib governor Sultan Al-Arada, within the framework of the first visit of a European official in two months to the city that has been attacked by Houthi militias amid fears of a humanitarian disaster, Yemen news agency (Saba) reported.The governor briefed the envoy on latest developments of the humanitarian situation and living conditions of displaced people in the governorate, which hosts more than 60 percent of the displaced, according to the agency.Al-Arada stressed the necessity of international community's pressure on Houthis to stop their continued rockets launched on the shelters that killed dozens of people.He noted that the Yemeni legitimate government is keen on achieving peace and that it made several concessions to for the success of international efforts aiming to solve the Yemeni crisis.He hoped that pressure on Houthis by international community would contribute to effectively creating an actual chance for peace and ending sufferings of Yemenis.
