Clashes in NE Yemen carry on with more than 82 dead in 2 days amidst calls for de-escalation

(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 16 an official said to Xinhua that clashes carried on in Yemen's northeastern oil-rich province of Marib with over 82 people dead in the last two days amidst calls for de-escalation in war-stricken country. The local official stated on condition of remaining anonymous that in the most recent fighting, militants of the Houthi rebel outfit conducted a number of attacks and assaulted diverse areas led by the Saudi-supported Yemeni administration forces around the strategic province. According to the source, the Houthi armed assaults led to the death of almost 34 soldiers of the administration forces stationed close to Marib's main entrances. He stated that the administration forces supported by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition responded from ground and air, leaving over 48 fighters of the Houthi rebel outfit dead during the last two days.
