(MENAFN) The fatalities of the hospital blaze on Saturday evening could hit 130, stated the Iraqi Independent High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) on Monday, Apr. 26. An IHCHR report said: "the approximate number of deaths, according to the testimonies obtained by the IHCHR team, may reach 130, including unidentified badly charred bodies." According to the report, the IHCHR team said that, the blaze was because of a blast of an oxygen cylinder in Ibn al-Khatib Hospital assigned to treating COVID-19 patients in the east of Baghdad. The IHCHR holds hospital officials responsible for not following the Ministry of Health instructions to reduce the number of visitors to the hospital which is already overfull with COVID-19 patients, stated the report.
