Qatar- Traffic accident cases fall in March: PSA

(MENAFN - The Peninsula) The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) in its 87th issue of the Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin disclosed that 613 traffic accident cases were recorded in March 2021, showing a monthly decrease of 2.9% and an annual increase of 26.9%. Light injuries accounted for the vast majority of traffic accident cases during the same month, with 88%, followed by 9% severe injuries. However, 18 deaths were recorded, equivalent to 3% of total traffic accident cases. The newsletter also added that 5,342 new vehicles were registered in March, showing a monthly increase of 3.9% and an annual increase of 24.4%. Meanwhile, the issue recorded a rise in the number and value of sold properties; a monthly increase of 27.5% and 45.0%, respectively (compared to February 2021), and an annual increase of 126.1% and 74.8% (compared to March 2020). The value of shares traded increased to QR10.9bn during March 2021, recording a monthly increase of 39.5% compared to February 2021 and an annual rise of 32.8% (compared to March 2020). Furthermore, among the most notable changes in the monthly bulletin is the increase in the number of ships arriving at Qatar's ports and the increase in total net tonnage of ships at a monthly rate of 7.2% and 5.3%, respectively (compared to February 2021), and at an annual rate of 4.1% and 12.5% respectively (compared to March 2020). The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.80 million during March 2020 to 2.64 million at the end of March 2021. Meanwhile, 1,789 live births have been registered during March 2021. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 9.5% compared to last month. On the other hand, 250 deaths were recorded during the same period, increasing 40.4% compared to February 2021. March 2021 has seen a monthly increase of 25.2% in marriage contracts, while it witnessed a monthly decrease of 3.8% in divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 373 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 176 divorce cases. Social Security statements reached QR84 mn in March 2021 for 14,681 beneficiaries, recording a monthly increase of 2.5% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.5% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security. Total electricity consumption during March 2021 was 3022.6GWh attaining a monthly increase of 25.8% and an annual increase of 7.2%.
