(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar University (QU) will celebrate the graduation of the 43rd batch of male students (Class of 2020) on May 30. The ceremony for distinguished female students will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani, wife of His Highness the Amir, on May 31, Qatar News Agency reported on Saturday. Attendees will be limited to graduates and organisers only, QU said in a press statement. This year, early preparations were under way in order to facilitate the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 with a total of 3,188 graduates -- 2,455 of whom are females and 733 males. The university will release further details about the event soon. Considering the current Covid-19 pandemic, safety and precautionary measures approved by the State will be implemented during the event. Attendance will be limited to graduates and a limited number of senior officials from the university, with the aim of maintaining adequate social distancing, the statement notes. "As QU graduates its 43rd cohort of graduates, the university continues to chronicle a long history spanning decades in which it contributes heavily to Qatar’s development and prosperity, through boosting the labour market with qualified graduates," the university stressed. QU’s new strategy places an emphasis on elevating the student experience by placing the university as a pioneer and a leading educational institution in the higher education sector in Qatar and abroad. "QU is committed to providing quality education in areas of national priority, moving towards building a knowledge-based society," the statement adds.  MENAFN15052021000067011011ID1102085414
