Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia Is One of Biggest Contributors to Yemen

(MENAFN - Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, May 21, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that within the humanitarian and relief efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Yemen, the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has continued its projects in various vital sectors and infrastructure there. In this regard, the SDRPY has signed with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) a partnership to enhance the efforts in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in all parts of Yemen, the paper said. This cooperation aims to set an electronic platform for the purpose of uniting efforts and highlighting the contributions of donors to support various sectors, the paper added. Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest contributors to developing and supporting Yemen's economy in addition to building the capacities of the Yemeni government and its institutions, the further added. In another context, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, affirmed before the summit of challenges facing Africa, which held virtually in Paris, the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with its efforts in urging the G20 countries during its presidency in 2020, to support low-income countries in Africa, strengthen the health system there and mobilize the necessary development and humanitarian financing for these countries. Saudi Arabia has succeeded in launching the G20 initiative to suspend debt service payments and provide urgent liquidity to 73 of the poorest countries, including 38 African countries that received more than 5 billion dollars, the paper added. The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) provided loans and grants exceeding 580 to more than 54 African countries, with a value exceeding 50 billion riyals, which is approximately 13.5 billion dollars and several different initiatives for African countries, exceeding four billion riyals, to mitigate the impact and effects of political and the economic fluctuations in these countries, the paper further added.
