HBKU offers training to strengthen Qatari women''s political participation

(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Doha: A three-day high-level workshop for Qatari women aspiring to leadership positions and potential candidates for Shura Council elections will be presented virtually from June 13 to 15, as a partnership between the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). The workshop will aim to advance the aspirant leaders’ understanding of the core elements of a successful electoral campaign, strengthen their public skills, and create a platform for networking among women political leaders from the EU, Qatar, and the region.  Trainers will include senior EU politicians, media experts, campaigners, and high-profile political figures from Qatar, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, and the Middle East. A certificate of completion will be awarded to all participants. CHSS has curated the training to lay the groundwork for running a political campaign, an advocacy initiative, or other leadership roles. Sessions will cover several learning areas: Understanding the Qatari Constitution and national legislation on political campaigning; running an effective campaign; engaging with the media (including media training and interview techniques); leveraging social media to connect, convince, and mobilise voters; mastering public speaking; sharing experiences and building a network of women political contacts.
