Sunny Andrews Invited to Compete at Arnold Classic 2022

At the festival, the celebrated bodybuilder will go up against a select few as a part of the event's Arnold Classic section in Columbus, Ohio, during the first weekend of March 2022.

Andrews is one of just ten professional National Physique Committee, and International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness competitors from around the world invited to compete. "It's an honor, and I cannot wait," says Andrews, speaking from her home in Duval County, Florida.

Canadian Andrews is a renowned weightlifter and bodybuilder who, since going pro in 2018, has amassed a substantial following on social media and elsewhere. The Ontario native isn't just famous for her bodybuilding and weightlifting prowess. She's also a celebrated physician, graduating from medical school in 2019.

Sunny Andrews has previously handled trauma surgery commitments and completed 24-hour hospital shifts before taking part in high-profile bodybuilding competitions. "Often, the only way for me to compete is to work a 24-hour shift and then drive straight to an event where I'm immediately up on stage," she reveals.

Andrews' next appearance will be at the world-famous Columbus-based Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio's state capital. Here, she'll face off against a variety of other competitors, each hand-picked alongside herself by organizers.

Andrews' place at the event follows numerous recent triumphs that led to her receiving the call to attend this year's Arnold Classic. "It was on December 17," Andrews recalls, "that the National Physique Committee and the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness invited me to take part."

The Canadian-born bodybuilder will join just nine other names from the world of weightlifting and bodybuilding as a part of the Arnold Sports Festival's Arnold Classic section in Columbus, Ohio, on March 5, 2022.

The International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Arnold Sports Festival is an annual multi-sport event consisting of professional bodybuilding, strongman, fitness, figure, and bikini classes. Predominantly delivered as a weekend expo, it was established in 1989 and is named after Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This year, alongside Sunny Andrews, over 20,000 athletes from more than 80 nations will participate in upwards of 60 events across various corresponding multi-sport festivals held in the U.S. and overseas. That includes Melbourne, Australia; São Paulo, Brazil; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Seville, Spain.

Andrews was born in southern Ontario, Canada. A former student of Michigan State University, she would later complete a master's program in biomedical science at Oakland University in Michigan before being accepted to medical school. Andrews won her first bodybuilding show before turning professional in April 2018.

Shortly after, Sunny Andrews earned her pro card as an International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness athlete, going on to compete as a professional a total of seven times in 2021. That includes the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Olympia, where she placed sixth. She currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
