GirlCratery™ Delights Kids with Fun Projects Monthly

Syracuse, New York, Sept. 22, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Syracuse, N.Y. (Sept 22, 2022) — The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) Council announces the debut of a new subscription box service, GirlCratery™, curated for girls ages 5-11. This unique program costs just $99 (shipping included) for a three-month subscription. Other subscriptions are available, and customers can buy past crates separately for $28.99 (plus S&H) at  www.girlcratery.org.

Subscribers are called “Cratologists.” Crate contents have all necessary elements for fun and creative play while developing STEAM skills and building self-confidence. Subscribers receive a surprise crate mailed to their homes monthly. Introductory crates include diverse themes such as fidgets, baking, camping, jewelry making, geocaching and road tripping.

“The goal is to provide a fun dive into the theme, actively challenging and rewarding girls for learning new skills,” says Amanda Coyle, GSNYPENN Manager of E-Commerce Programs and GirlCratery Lead. “A fun patch and custom-themed stickers are a great way to commemorate skills learned. Anyone who runs children’s programming will appreciate the convenience of individually packaged projects in take-home crates.”

“GirlCratery brings the magic of discovery to school aged children,” explains Julie Dale, GSNYPENN CEO. “While there are several kid-themed boxes on the market, we deliver the excitement of novelty and the element of surprise. Our subscription allows kids to try something different each month, broadening their interests.”

Kids can complete GirlCratery projects independently or share the fun with family. A subscription makes a great gift for busy parents and individual crates make great birthday presents with everything needed to complete the activity in one box.

In addition to raising revenue for the GSNYPENN Council, the program works by integrating with local community partners. Crates are assembled, packed and inventoried with a team from ARC of Onondaga, a local organization whose mission is to help individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their fullest potential. Partnerships with local small businesses are being formed to source more crate contents locally. Local middle and high school GSNYPENN girl members will soon work on completing Entrepreneurial badges by actively learning what it takes to run a subscription box service.

“The best part about Girl Scouts is that we lead by example,” explains Wendy Cobrda, GSNYPENN Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer. “We encourage girls to use every opportunity as a learning experience; to fail forward. Our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, would be pleased that we are opening this service up to non-members. Her fondest wish was that all girls develop skills to be better people and citizens, and to be aware of their ability to impact the world around them.”

By involving the community and GSNYPENN members in the GirlCratery business, girls learn that there are many ways to bring ideas to life. For Girl Scouts, these skills start when they are young and through participation in the annual fall product and cookie fundraiser programs and continue with novel programs like GirlCratery.

With free project instructions posted monthly on the GirlCratery website, there’s also great value in a free subscription. This offering allows the GSNYPENN Council to provide a service to all families with younger children, regardless of membership.

As a non-profit, all revenues generated by this new endeavor support GSNYPENN Council programming and scholarships for activities. For information on becoming a GirlCratery partner or supplier, contact Amanda at Amanada@girlcratery.org or 315.238.8818.
