*RUTHERFORDTON, NC / ACCESSWIRE / May 16, 2023 /* Mackin Talent, a global staffing firm with offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia is excited to announce the opening of its new East Coast headquarters in the historic community of Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

Situated in a renovated auto garage and service station, Mackin's new East Coast operations hub is staffed by three longtime employees, all of whom are longtime Rutherfordton residents and have known each other since the sixth grade.

The move shows how small towns can offer big opportunities, and how decisions based on employee wishes can generate a more productive work environment. The new Mackin location also illustrates the innovative ways in which workers are returning to office-environments in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Most global companies generally don't pick a small town to invest in," said Mackin Chief Executive Officer Andy Mackin. "But we believe in community, so if we can invest in small towns where we know it's a big deal for our people, and it will make a difference to the community, then why not? I think this says a lot about Mackin."

Mackin's commitment to investing in the Rutherfordton region is reflected in the multi-use aspect of its new building.

In addition to salvaging a historic building for its East Coast headquarters, Mackin has opened an entrepreneurial incubator in the building-under the MackinGo brand-to spur innovation in the town. The site is also available to local residents, including farmers, who are unable to secure wireless internet service in the surrounding rural areas.

The recent opening of Mackin's Rutherfordton location also reflects the firm's "Employee First" approach to managing its workforce.

A global staffing resource for companies large and small, Mackin could have placed its East Coast headquarters in any number of its existing offices, including those in Hartford, Atlanta and Charlotte. But after conferring with employees, Mackin opted for a solution that was near-and-dear to the heart of those employees who were already working remotely in Rutherfordton.

"Mackin could have placed this office in any of those locations, but this site was chosen because it's important to their people," said Mackin employee Heather Martinez, whose family has lived in Rutherfordton for generations. "I think that's a perfect example of how Mackin thinks-‘Hey, if I invest in my people, then they're going to stay with us long term.' It's also sending a message about small towns, which can really struggle with keeping young people and residents in general."

Andy also pointed out that in a large city, "You're just one of the millions of people who live there." But a community like Rutherfordton, which sits close to Raleigh, Charlotte and Greenville, shows how smaller can be better for large companies and the people they employ.

Adding to the luster of Rutherfordton is the presence of a Facebook data center just 10 miles away.

And Rutherfordton's history shows how this community has been an important center of commerce for centuries.

Named for Gen. Griffith Rutherford, a leader during the American Revolution, Rutherfordton, located at the the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was:

· Founded in 1787.
· The site of the first U.S. Post Office in Western North Carolina.
· A natural stopping point for settlers making their way into the Western frontier.
· The national leader in gold mining for several years during the 1830s and 1840s.
· At the height of the North Carolina backcountry gold rush, home to perhaps the most successful private mint in U.S. history.

"Mackin is changing the perception of where big companies establish themselves," Andy said. "You don't have to go to Silicon Valley to be successful."

An international staffing company offering contingent workforce solutions, Mackin is rewriting the playbook when it comes to a type of employment traditionally viewed as less secure than those positions with full-time status.

Mackin's strategies underscore how a contingent workforce offers employers flexibility; cost savings; an increased talent pool; reduced risk; and increased productivity.

And for employees, Mackin offers support by way of health, dental and vision benefits; a 401(k) fund; and paid time off.

Mackin's Managed Services program includes an agile recruitment strategy and vendor-managed SOWs. And Mackin's Direct Hire and Executive Search services attract and lead to the hiring of highly-skilled, senior-leadership employees.
