Around 150,000 people participated in Taiwan's largest Pride march in Taipei, with Vice President Lai Ching-te making history as the highest-ranking government official to attend. The event, held ahead of the country's upcoming elections, aimed to reinforce Taiwan's position as a defender of liberal values. Lai expressed gratitude for the support of LGBTQ+ rights and same-sex marriage legalization. The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), led by President Tsai Ing-wen, also joined the march. The parade showcased Taiwan's openness on LGBTQ+ issues, in stark contrast to China's stance.
