Pakistan's deportation drive has forcibly repatriated scores of Afghans awaiting resettlement in the United States, despite US embassy letters of protection being ignored. The US has closed its embassy in Kabul, leaving Afghans to deal with human rights restrictions and crises in their homeland. Over 450,000 Afghans have returned home, many facing difficult winter conditions near the border. At least 130 Afghans processed for US immigration visas or refugee resettlement have been deported, with over 230 arrested.
