Battle of the Beach rapidly expanding in second year

When biloxi head coach eddie- lofton started battle of the- beach, in 20-17... the original- field was comprised, of 30- teams.- just one year later, the- mastermind behind the - week-long high school baseball- showcase... has seen his event- expand... by more than 50 - percent.- this time around, 47 teams are- getting in on the action... - which is- being played across eight local- high schools... in- addition to seven games, at - m-g-m park... later in the week- all-in-all, upwards of 80 - match-ups will have taken place- between monday and saturday...- with teams from five different- states... taking the diamond.

- consider it... an alternative - spring break.

- - "all these schools that are coming in from out- of town - basically everything- north of wiggins is on spring - break now.

And then all - of these other states that are- coming in, this is their spring- break as well.

So for them to b- able to come down to the coast,- enjoy seafood, enjoy everything- that biloxi - and gulfport and ocean springs- have to offer, it's a great - venue.

And that's a great thing- for biloxi, too.

It should be - very good for the economics - throughout the week for our - three - towns, so i'm very pleased and- happy that we could get it- going."

- - - starting friday and running - through saturday... the - local teams playing at m-g-m- park are harrison - central, biloxi, ocean- springs... gulfport versus- george county...- and west harrison against st.
