### take 5 sec --10 sec open-- julia julia we're following developing news this morning -- chico police are investigating a shooting in broad daylight that led to a major back-up on highway 99.
One person is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds -- while another has been detained for questioning.
Meaghan wallace has the latest for us this morning -- reporter live meaghan meaghan julia -- there were two scenes involved with this shooting -- and we went to both in order to get every detail of this developing investigation.
Police say it started here -- outside an apartment near east 8th street and vista verde avenue just before five o'clock yesterday evening.
They say the victim -- shot several times -- drove nearly two miles up highway 99 before crashing near the east first avenue on ramp.
Traffic was backed up in the area for around 45 minutes while police gathered evidence.
Vo and since this is an ongoing investigation -- few details have been released.
We're working to learn the identity of the victim in this case -- and the person currently in custody.
Police have not revealed if they are currently searching for other suspects who may be involved.
They're now working to figure out what exactly led up to this shooting outdoors in the middle of the day.
We reached out to neighbors nearby.
One person we spoke to did not want to be identified -- but says the rise in crime in chico has become concerning for them.

Vo "jim whiteaker" -- seen here -- has been on leave the past two months due to the claim.
The former student of yuba city high school is now suing "whiteaker", the school district, and the current and former superintendents of the school.
An attorney representing the anonymous teen claims "whiteaker" has a record of inappropriate behavior with students, spanning at least two decades.
Among them -- former yuba city high student "pantera fridley".

His attorney is asking people to wait for the evidence before passing judgement.

Vo julia julia sutter county district attorney "amanda hopper" says her office is now going through police reports going as far back as 1993 involving jim whiteaker before deciding whethercriminal charges will be filed.

Vo sheriff officials say it happened in olivehurst at around 12:30 yesterday afternoon -- at the tower mart near mcgowan parkway.
They say the unidentified suspect was chasing the victim -- firing off multiple rounds.
Once the suspect shot the victim, investigators say he then turned the gun on himself.
Hospital -- while the suspect remains in critical condition this morning.
"lindhurst high school" was put on lockdown for an hour until the scene was cleared.
We're working to learn the identity of the two men and a possible motive in the case.

Full page police say "tyler pacheco" died in october of 2016 after being hit by a car in the area of woodland and northgate three teens have now been arrested in the case.
18-year olds "aleander rohde" and "carlos cornejo" ar now being charged with murder and robbery -- while a 16-year old boy was arrested in butte county.
His charge have not been announced.### julia julia an autopsy in nevada county has now confirmed a body found in a shallow grave is in fact that of a los angles acrtress missing for over a month.
The nevada county sheriff's office says 25-year-old "adea shabani" was identified by her tattoos.
Sheriff's officials say "shabani" suffere blunt force trauma to her head.
"christopher spotts" is the main suspect in her murder.
"spotts" killed himself after a chase with police last "shabani's" body was found earlier this week in the spenceville wildlife area in penn valley.

Full page detectives say it was a recent burglary at the skyway golf park that led them to arrest of 29-year old "dusty mason", 26-year old "kayla keehl" of magalia -- and a they say the teen confessed -- and some of the stolen property was found at the teen's mother's home in tehama they say some of the diving equipment was thrown into the sacramento river and remains missing.
All three suspects are now facing charges.
