Russian Opposition Head Arrested Moments After Leaving Jail

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was arrested Monday immediately following his release from jail.

After Navalny served 30 days in jail for organizing an unauthorized rally earlier this year, he was detained again and sentenced to another 20 days.

He was charged with staging another unauthorized rally earlier this month.

Navalny denied the allegation, saying he couldn't have organized the event as he was in jail at the time.

Navalny, whom the Wall Street journal called " the man Vladimir Putin fears most ," has spent 172 days in detention since 2011, according to his spokesperson.

He was sentenced to a five-year suspended sentence in 2013 on fraud charges, which he says was used to bar him from running in the 2018 presidential election.
