The Locker Room: Prep Hoops Roundup (1/18)

Hey good evening boys and girls..welcome inside the locker room..thanks for making us part of your friday night..

My name is petar hood..justin prince has the night off..for some reason though, rather than taking his vacation to somewhere like florida... or california..

Ya know, some place warm..this man chose to go to minnesota, where the high today was negative five degrees...god love 'em..here in fort wayne, it's a balmy 30..but luckily it's much warmer inside the high school gyms across the area, which is where i spent the majority of my evening..áááwe begin at northrop... bruin boys looking to stay perfect in s-a-c play, hosting the wayne generals tonight...áááand this one was a blast early on..

Sydney curry..

Big fella showing you the passing skills..

Drops it off for tenoah ridley... ááásharing is caring..

But make no mistake, sydney was not in a good mood this evening..

Craig young, finding out the hard way..

Need another look at that one..

Stares him down, too.... áááyoung not phased though..

Later, no curry in the game..

Craig takes advantage..

Drives, spins, scores... áááthen it's his partner in crime michael redding..

Gets an angle, gets to the cup and converts... wayne down just three late in the second quarter..ááábut northrop would go on a run just before the half..

Nick haines from distance..

Shooter's touch... áááand then with time winding down in the second quarter..

Khamani smith from the volleyball line... yessir... gives 'em an 11 point lead at the break..ááábruins go on to win, 69-53... they remain unbeaten in conference play..

áááso it looks like carroll is going to have to win out if they want to repeat as s-a-c champs..

Right now a game back of the bruins, hosting south side tonight..ááágood start for the archers in this one..

First bucket of the game belongs to j-t langston junior...ááábut carroll goes on a run after that..

Nice extra pass into the corner sets up ray vollmer..

And that's all day for ray..áááand this is all day for david..

Ejah, that is..

Forces the steal, and then it's ejah doing what he does...ááálater in the first, chargers clicking offensively..

The skip pass finds daniel mckeeman wide open..

And that's bad news if you're wearing green...ááá18 for mckeeman..

26 for ejah.... as the chargers cruise, 55-42..

More sac action, concordia hosting snider tonight concordia's jeren kindig gets the ball kicked out to him on the wing, he drives and gets the floater to land another good heads up play from kindig finds brayden pearson who drives into the lane for two more to add to their lead snider clawing their way back though.

It takes jordan moore all of 5 seconds to go coast to coast and get the lay up to fall.

Pulling snider within 2 bucketsoff the inbound pass, the ball makes its way to jermaine woods giving the panthers two easy ones there.

Pearson here driving into the lane for the cadets, adding two more to the scoreboard.

Fairly close most of the night but it's the panthers who claims this one 51 to 45 áááover to homestead..

Spartans trying to keep pace with the chargers..

Sparty student section, blacked out and fired up...áááand they had a lot to cheer about early on in this one..

First possession, they go inside to alec grinsfelder..

That's easy money...áááso why not go back to it??

Chris johnson says don't mind if i do..

Off the inbounds, it's grinsfelder again..

Homestead races out to a 6-0 lead before the legends are able to get on the board..

áááthey do so here..

Ronald collins shakes free and knocks down the mid-range j... ááálater in the first, collins looking for more..

Zak krueger not having it this time..

Picks his pocket..

And how bout the crafty finish on the other end...áááand then it's luke goode..

On the backcut..

Give the dime to grinsfelder... áááas homestead wins its ninth straight game..

79-34..

A battle of this bishop's tonight, bishop dwenger taking on luers, dwenger rocking the national guard jerseysthe man you see rocking that jersey is rocking the pull up game, hayden smithey buries one from behind the arch to add three more to their total.

Dwenger went on a 12 to 0 run to open the first quarterbut luers gets their first buckets of the game, norman knapke streaking through the lane finds the bottom of the net for twoand here's two more from knapke here as the rebound eventually falls to him, getting luers ever closer dwenger though, on their game tonight, another three this time from matt kochanski and the saints would add two more here thanks to john hoffman and dwenger tops luers 53 to 38 your final.

We pivot to the ladies now..

And while the s-a-c race looks wide open on the boys side, it has really been a one horse race all along for the girls..

Homestead has won all of its games against conference competition by 13 or more points this year..

Tonight, the lady spartans trying to wrap up their fourth straight s-a-c title..ááásenior night for sylare starks and six classmates..

Has to be one of, if not átheá winningest class in program history..áááand tonight was no exception..

Already up big third quarter and not letting off the gas..

Senior haley swing scoring off the steal..

She had 9 on the night..áááas per usual, very balanced attack for sparty..

This time it's gealy setting up starks..

áááthe good news for the rest of the s-a-c..

Those two are seniors... the bad news... this young lady is not..

She's got three more years left..

Ayanna patterson with two of her team-high 12..

áááand oh by the way, sydney graber..

She's not going ahywhere either..

She chipped in with 10 tonight..áááas the spartans clinch their fourth straight s-a-c title, 78-16..

3 áááwe head back to carroll now..

Shoutout to our friends at summit city sports for providing this video..

Chargers cruising in the first half..

Audrey freeland knocks down the 10 footer...áááand then a little pick n roll... delane sheets sets up freeland for two more..

Carroll up 11 midway through the second quarter..ááábut the archers able to make a run before the break..

Darryin hackbarth... she had 15 in the first half to keep south in it..

Cuts the lead to six..ááábut too much carroll tonight..

As you see sheets get loose in transition for two more..

She finished with 10... 18 for freeland..

áááand a big win for the lady chargers, 55-42..

To concordia we go, the lady cadets taking on the snider panthers.pick this one up in the first, snider's da'leshia davis with the hop step into the lane and gets the layup to go for two,but carissa garcia says "i can do that too" she pulls up for a short 2 and gets it to go for concordiaa few plays later sniders payton gorman is going to get the rebound and turn back out to get the shot off, she adds two more two the scoreboard.

Concordia responds with 3 points of their own from elle fritcha, that shot doesn't get much cleaner than that, but the lady panthers take the cadets to the cleaners tonight, gorman adds two more and they go on to win 51 to 39.

áááwe finish where we started tonight..

Back to northrop, where rashia muhammed and her bruins are hosting wayne..

ááásenior night at northrop..

Only one senior to celebrate, but man did she go out with a bang... treva datcher..

Off the nice touch pass from destiny jackson, converts... áááand then it's datcher running the floor..

Jackson finds her again..

Finishes through contact..ááávery next possession..

You know who to give it to... datcher..

The little give and go with jackson..

Those two had it workin' tonight..ááádatcher had 18 at the half..

She finishes with 22, as the bruins roll, 68-28..

Our play of the night takes us back to northop...two of the best athletes in the area meeting at the summit..and sydney curry gets the best of craig young on this one..the miami university commit channeling his inner rudy gobert...as the bruins roll to remain perfect in conference play..

Alright, so that will do it for our high school basketball covrage
