Reading High students travel to Philly to see Lonnie Walker play

It's a homecoming of sorts for reading high basketball star turned nba player lonnie walker.

And his fans from reading are making the trip to philadelphia, as lonnie and the san antonio spurs take on the 76ers.

It's a big night for the city of reading as lonnie walker returns to pa with the spurs and many i spoke to today said they wanted to be in attendance.

>>reporter: dozens of reading high students filled a bus headed to philly to watch former reading high star lonnie walker and his san antonio spurs take on the philadelphia 76ers.

This will be my first time attending a basketball game and i'm doing it with high school students."

>>reporter: doctor noahleen betts helped organize the trip.

She says she hopes it serves as a motivator for current students.

>>reporter: for one freshman who says she recently walked away from the game of basketball, she's hoping seeing lonnie will motivate her to get back on the court.

I do like basketball a lot.

I used to play, but then i stopped.

I think if i go it will make me do basketball again."

>>reporter: walker's coach at reading high, rick perez, is also taking a handful of players and coaches to philly for the game.
