BJP, Congress in war of words over CAG report on Rafale deal

A fresh war of words has broken out between the Congress and the BJP over the CAG audit report on the Rafale deal.

At a press conference in New Delhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that the CAG report makes it clear that the Modi government misled Parliament over the issue.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, however, said that the “CAG report vindicates the stand of the government.” The CAG report tabled in the Rajya Sabha says that the 36 Rafale fighters bought by the NDA government from France are “2.86 percent cheaper” than the price negotiated by the UPA government.
