Washington Increases Pressure On Maduro As Guaido Tours South America

According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, the United States announced sanctions on Venezuelan officials who blocked a humanitarian aid convoy last week, while opposition leader Juan Guaido toured South America to drum up support for an end to President Nicolas Maduro's government.

Reuters reports that last weekend, military officials blocked an opposition-backed effort to bring food into the country via its border with Colombia and Brazil, leaving two aid trucks in flames and five people dead.

On Friday, Guaido visited Paraguay and was scheduled to travel to Argentina later in the day to bolster support for his transition government to usurp Maduro and take control of the crisis-stricken nation.
